Student Support

We want to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to study at Western. So, our Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education offers you access to a great range of services, like career advice, tutors, medical help, counselling, computers, study spaces, a kitchen and printing facilities – even opportunities to study abroad.

If you feel unsafe or want someone to escort you to your car, call the 24/7 security hotline on 1300 737 003. Keep your eye out for the many emergency contact points as well. Just press the button and a security officer will be with you in moments.

Got little ones? Take advantage of Western’s fantastic childcare centre. It’s open from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm, and offers long-day or occasional care for $13 an hour.

If you’re feeling down or stressed, get in touch with Western’s counselling service. Our qualified social workers and psychologists have got your back.

If you have a disability, chronic health condition or temporary injury, the Disability Services team can help with things like pre-admission, note takers, readers, sign interpreters, video and podcast transcripts, assistive technology, textbooks and materials in alternative formats, the list goes on.

If you are struggling with accommodation, financial hardship, personal issues, study related issues, matters related to student visa or if you are having trouble understanding university policies and procedures, the Student Welfare Service can help you work through it. For further information please visit the Student Welfare Service webpage.

Western's Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) offer free group study sessions facilitated by experienced students.

For a new haircut or style at prices you can afford, head over to Cut’s on Campus.

The Student Campus Council and Student Representative Council are your voice on campus. If you have a concern or suggestion – or if you want to join – just get in touch.

Have a question? Throughout your student journey (from enrolments to graduations) Student Central is your first point of contact for information, advice, forms and referrals to other services. For more information check the Student Central webpage.

Piccolo Me

Piccolo Me appeals to serious coffee lovers just as much as it does to those who delight in its creative concoctions.  Only highly trained baristas serve coffee which is 100% Arabica Fair Trade Organic.

The menu is a mix of things not found at other cafes, creating twists on childhood favourites and making your meal fun.  Creations like the “Esprookie”, an espresso served in a Nutella cookie cup or the popular “Crotop”, a Nutella-filled croissant bite coated in crushed M&M peanuts or maltesers on top of a piccolo coffee is making Piccolo Me the dessert king of Sydney.
